Project #3 - Inspiration From Other Photographers

Melanie Einzig - http://www.witnessx.com/

I like this photo because of the contrast between the people in it. They are all very different from each other and they all seem to be wrapped up in their own little world. However, a relationship is created between them because of the framing of the photograph.

This picture is interesting to me because it is more than just a depiction of a street scene. It seems to me that it is also a comment on society and its politics. The poster in the background is depicting young soldiers fighting for their country and trying to fix other countries’ problems. The figure in the foreground, however, makes it clear that all is not well in this country either.

I think that this photo is a good example of street photography because it captures a moment that we normally do not consider as being very significant or even really notice. Also, it evokes a feeling in the viewer - it is not difficult to imagine how this man is feeling: wet, cold, and frustrated.

This is another example of a moment that we would not be able to view and consider if it was not for the fact that it has been frozen by the camera. It is an every day situation, but because it is frozen in time it becomes interesting and we can look at it in a way that we normally would not be able to.

This photo is interesting because the viewer is looking at people looking at something else, and so if the viewer was actually there they would probably be looking at whatever the boys are looking at as well. The photographer, however, has chosen to capture this image in the frame and therefore this scene is in focus and not the scene that the boys are looking at. It is up to the viewer to make up his or her own story and figure out what the boys are captivated by. I also think that the relationship between the boys is interesting - there seems to be a sense of hierarchy.

This picture is another example of a moment and an emotion that has been captured by the camera. It also evokes a clear emotion in the viewer. There is not much context to explain what is going on in the photo, and again it is up to the viewer to create a story that the pictures fits into.
